I was asked about my favourite things for a handmade birthday card from kid 1. I sang 🎢 thousands of guillemots tied up with string 🎢 and got exactly that on the card
A child's drawing of a group of guillemots encircled by a rope
Furious that Chris Nolan would disregard historical accuracy in adapting The Odyssey by making a "movie" with "cameras" instead of memorizing the entire story and then going on a nationwide tour to sing it to us while tripping on ergotized barley
Okay, so this is crazy. 🀯 In Event Horizon, a film from 1997, Sam Neill requested that the Australian flag on his character's uniform be replaced with a photo of Lionel Messi bathing the baby Lamine Yamal, the way he thought it should look in 2047! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
See the accompanying post!
Tuchel after the match pulls off his rubber mask. It reveals Ashton Kutcher, telling the nation they've been punk'd
Enjoying this so far. This world cup needed a game with a bit of edge to it
"Who's more racist, England or Argentina?" the longest thread in the history of Bluesky, abandoned after everyone involved blocked each other
You probably don't hate tech companies as much as you absolutely should do
I hope after this crime I'm still allowed to go to Italy next month
An affogato being made with Mr Whippy ice cream and a bean-to-cup espresso
Starmer taking the idea of the nanny state very literally I see. "Meep meep children, time for bed"
My train has been delayed at a signal for so long that the conductor has told us over the tannoy about the compensation scheme

The most French looking man I’ve ever seen. Just missing the cigarette and a quote about existential ennui
While JK Rowling and Amnesty are being mentioned in the same breath it's worth remembering why she lost her job there.
Jack @jackinpogform.bsky.social
It's weird to me that discussions of JK Rowling always being a dick never being up the fact she spent her time at Amnesty International drafting books when she was supposed to be documenting war crimes in Africa.
over the course of my life i've heard many many people say "it's too bad hitler didn't find success as an artist, maybe this could have all been avoided" and rowling really gives the lie to that
s. e. smith @sesmith.lol
The fact that J.K. Rowling successfully bullied Amnesty International into taking down a report that accurately called out her attack on trans people, especially trans women, is so repulsive and such a display of the power of her money, and her choice to put her vast fortune behind persecution.
JK Rowling offers to fund lawsuits against Amnesty is a headline that will cut through.
Miffythegamer @miffythegamer.bsky.social
In my opinion, this is litigious thuggery.

Amnesty spoke their truth and it hurt the feelings of the anti-trans brigade.

TERFs destroy everything they touch. I mean, imagine suing Amnesty, of all organisations?
And then I came home to the most wonderful present - an Acer! I enjoyed having one years ago in another life, so it's lovely to bring one into this life.
A small Acer in a nice blue pot, sitting on a gravel bed outside a ground floor window. A cat is sitting on a paving slab alongside.

42 today, so I took myself out for a little lunchtime treat.
A fancy fish finger sandwich and a little half pint of lagerA selfie of a 42-year old man standing by a canal. He has a slightly windblown mop of ginger hair, a little greyer than it used to be, and dark blue glasses. His face is happy and friendly, and perhaps a little rounder in cheek and jowl than he'd like it to be. He's wearing a red and white stripy tee and a tweed blazer with a small gold croissant lapel pin.

You might think, as his wife initially did, that he looks like a Kaiser Chiefs indie lad but that's not the case. He's more into prog rock and metal - really anything where some aspect of the music (volume, bombast, musicianship, beats in the bar) is turned up to 11.

He looks satisfied with life, in the manner of a middle-aged man who's taken a long lunch break to have a fancy fish finger sandwich and a half pint.

I really only have Netflix now because my kids enjoy it. The only other thing anyone's watched on it in the last 3 months is the Kylie documentary (which I am told was excellent)

Netflix is struggling with keeping viewers "hooked" because it keeps canceling shows after 1 season so no one trusts a Netflix show to last.

Its that simple, regardless of whatever their bullshit internal analytics are informing them.
